Visitors to our website

When someone visits our website: https://greatguitarbuildoff.com we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.  We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site.  This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone.  We do not make and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.  If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be upfront about this.  We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

We may collect information about your computer, including where available, your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and to report aggregate information to aid our Analytics.  This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns and does not identify any individual.  We may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer.  Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive.  They help us to improve our Site and to deliver a better and more personalised service.  You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies.  However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our Site.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely.  This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.  All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).  Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

E-newsletter

We use a third-party provider to deliver our e-newsletters.  We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter.  

Security and performance

The Great Guitar Build Off uses a third-party service to help maintain the security and performance of the GGBO website.  To deliver this service it processes the IP addresses of visitors to the GGBO website.

Website

We use a third-party service to publish our website.  We use a standard service to collect anonymous information about users’ activity on the site, for example, the number of users viewing pages on the site, to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the site and help us to improve it.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos from Crimson Guitars and other YouTube Channels, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

People who use our 'Contact Us' service, email us directly or leave a review

When you use the ‘Contact Us’ service we will receive an email which contains your name, email address,  and any additional details you may include.  This information will not be shared with any other organisations.

We monitor any emails sent to us, including file attachments, for viruses or malicious software.  Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you send is within the bounds of the law.  We keep contact form submissions for a certain period for customer service purposes or until the subject of the contact form has been suitably resolved, we do not use the information submitted through this service for marketing purposes.

If customers leave reviews or comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Customers, whether you are buying a raffle ticket or donating to a charity, may choose to create accounts with us.

The Great Guitar Build Off does not store Credit card, Debit card or Bank account information.  All financial transactions are carried out through PayPal, a third-party payment service.

To open a PayPal account or use the PayPal Services, you must provide your name, address, phone number, and email address.  In order to make payments through the PayPal Services, you must provide credit card, debit card or bank account information.  Whatever financial information you share with the PayPal services is completely private and will not be made available to Crimson Guitars.  For more information about PayPal's policy go here.

With respect to security; we have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our website. 

Your rights

Upon your request, we will (a) correct or update your personal information; (b) stop sending emails to your email address; and/or (c) disable your account to prevent any future purchases through that account.  You can make these requests simply by emailing office@greatguitarbuildoff.com

Upon request, we may provide website visitors with access to all information that we maintain about them, unique customer information, order details, dates of past or current transactions, and communications that the consumer/visitor has directed to our website, such as direct emails and enquiries.
